What Causes Severe Bleeding In The Nose?

i am 47....male,,,,5'7" and 170lbs...always been somewhat active...smoked 1 pack/day for 12 yrs...started at 25 and quit the day of the nosebleed...june 9th i had a severe nosebleed...my blood pressure was 180/107 when i went in that day...they gave me a calcium channel blocker that worked but i had a bad rash...then they switched me to lisinorpil (10mg) once a day and a 25mg hydrochlorothiazide...i was back in with another 180/101 blood pressure..the ER doc switched it to 2 doses/ twice a day//that was too much....i was very woozy and slept too much....now i was told to take 2 pills(lisinorpil 10mgs) oncew a day...i have for three days......and i get some sweats and feel like sleeping however i was able to manage to stay awake yesterday...QUESTION: WOULD IT BE BETTER TO TAKE ONE PILL IN AM AND THEN ONE PILL IN PM?...WOULD THIS REDUSE THE EFFECT OF MY SLEEPINESS?
