What Causes Severe Loss Of Hair?

Dear Doctor,

I'm 28 years old, female. 50 kg, 152 cm.

I noticed a rather sudden, diffuse loss of hair (very noticable in just 2 weeks time, and shedding persisting for 2 months now, no signs of re-growing hair.)

The facts are:

1) I should start with, I hadn't had any dairy for 1,5 years, not for weight loss purpuses (I do eat some now, it was just beforehand)- I had been feeling healthy, but could it have destroyed some of my intestinal bacteria..?

2) this year February, had a tooth removed and had an antibiotic cure os 10 days, Augmentin

3) after a few weeks, developed a pseudomembranous colitis, obviously linked to the antibiotics, as had never had a problem of this kind before - took almost 2 months to get cured. No mentionable weight loss during this time, though.

4.) noticed hair loss in May. Instantly started eating normal again, yoghurt, cheese etc. And now completely on vitamins, eating veg and fish as well.

Devestated about the hair thing, scared to death of losing it.

So basically, do you think it's possible, in any way, that the nearly 2 months of semi-severe p.m. colitis could've been linked to the hair loss?

I am not aware of any other health issues, complete check-out in progress though.

Thank you so much for your answer, in advance.

All the best,

veller
