What Causes Severe Pain In The Upper Abdomen On The Right Side?

I woke up last night with periodic shooting pain on my right side, upper abdomen, but definitely on the side. it has persisted off and on all day. i thought it was a digestive issue , however , it has not moved. going on about 12 hours. With most of the day no pain.

Hi, I think you should go for an abdominal ultrasound to rule out any kidney or gall bladder problem. Also get yourself examined by a surgeon. You can take some antacids and pain killers.
