What Causes Sore Ribs, Breathing Difficulty, Cough And Nose Bleed?

Hi there, basically my boyfriend has been complaining of sore ribs over the last week or so. He said he finds it hard to breathe at times and he has been coughing up Flem. Last night he said he wasn't feeling too good and this morning he was coughing, was sick and then had a nose bleed. I'm really worried.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, your boyfriend is mostly having bronchitis (inflammation of airways).
So better to take him to pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT will not only diagnose bronchitis but it will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment is based on severity only.
He will mostly improve with inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone).
If he is active smoker then smoking cessation is must.
Don't worry, he will be alright with all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your boyfriend. Thanks.
