Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my fiancee had a vehicle involved accident at work 2 months ago.Today he was told the results of the mri is 2 herniated disks, one left- one right, at bottom of spine (s1?) and pinched nerves. The Dr. also noted swelling around his kidney and wants to do an ultrasound. can these be related? and what might be causing sweling around the kidney?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Swelling around the kidney is caused by an inner hemorrhage (hematoma) in this case due to trauma. Usually it is self absorbed but needs careful monitoring with ultrasound.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mirjeta Guni
