What Causes Tenderness In The Head After Undergoing Cervical Rhizotomy?

I had a cervical rhyzotomy a week ago Friday. Since then, although I expected some neck pain, I also have had significant pain in the back of my head, that feels like i hit my head. it is tender to the touch and swollen. Is that normal due to the nerve being killed?
