What Causes The Pain In The Upper Left Side And Armpit?

Hello! My husband is complaining of pain and sensitivity on his upper left side just below his armpit. The area feels more jelly-like than the right side. What could this be? Should we go to ER? Wednesday, he had surgery to remove a very stuck kidney stone in his ureter. The kidney and right ureter were pretty damaged from the triangular stone. The doctor put a stint in from the kidney to the bladder. He is currently taking percocet for the pain and has bleeding and pain which is normal. He is 215 lbs. and 5'11". He has high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and knee issues. He is 40 years old. He did go through a lot of terrible pain from the stone for four days and nights with lots of vomiting, this week before it was removed? Is this a pulled muscle or could this be something more serious, and should I take him to the ER?
