What Causes Thick And Cloudy Menstrual Flow?

Hi, I wanted to ask a couple questions, first my menstrual blood is kinda thick and cloudy ,is that normal or does it indicate something is wrong? Also, my husband and I are trying to conceive, do you have any pointers or suggestions that would increase the chances of us getting pregnant?
