What Causes Yeast Infections After Taking Antibiotics?

I am on an antibiotic, doxycycline and tend to get yeast infections every time I am on an antibiotic. My MD gave me a prescription for Diflucan. Can I use it prophylactically? If so, when? Or do I have to wait until I have symptoms? Obviously, I d like to avoid a yeast infection! Thank you!

Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concerns.
Diflucan is used to prevent fungal infection in people who have a weak immune system .So you can start using it before the symptoms of yest infection begin.
You may take Diflucan with or without food.
The dose depend on the level of the infection but anyway follow your doctor's instructions.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
