What Could Cause Delay In Periods?

My husband and I are trying to conceive we already have a 1 year old daughter. Before having my daughter I had a regular 28 day cycle. Since her birth, my cycle is different every month. BTW 30-37 days. The longest I have ever went is 48 days. But I also had strep throat at that time. So I always take the average which would be 35 days. So my question is I am now 41 days since last period and the preg. tests are negative. Would there not be enough HCG yet??? Or what other reasons could there be for the lateness? Also why did the cycle change after birth of daughter? Thank you
