What Do Red And Purple Rashes On The Thigh Indicate?

I have 2 places on my inter thigh that resembles a cigar burn. one showed up a week ago and the other just looked like a small irritated place. now the second one is about the same as to first. the first look a little better now. they are mainly red with a purpleish tint. the second one has tiny bumps around the outside. much like razor burn looks like. a friend of mine which is a retired nurse say he thought it was jock itch but I have never had jock itch on my inter thigh.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Sounds primary follicle infection through some staph sort of bacteria and then contact dermatitis issue via the immediate proximity issue.

Proper care with local creams, systemic antibiotic, an antihistamine would help to recover faster.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
General & Family Physician
