Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a question about why I bleed during/ after sex with my boyfriend. I have had two sexual partners before him and I did not bleed after intercourse with them. the first time I had sex with my boyfriend I bled in little blood clots and the second time I didn t bled but I suspected a UTI because of burning urine so I went to the doctor and at the time they said I had a UTI but called back a few days later saying I did not. they gave me a pregnancy test and it was negative so I am not pregnant. I had sex with my boyfriend today and as soon as we finished I started gushing out blood everywhere and my vagina hurts. I read a little bit about what it could be but I m scared of the possibilities.
Hello, Welcome to Ask a doctor services. I have read your query.
Bleeding after penetrative sex is commonly a symptom of pregnancy. Other medical conditions are PID OR STI. Get STD tests done to stay on the safer side.
The commonest cause of abnormal bleeding is cervical cancer. You are suggested to visit a gynae. Get clinically examined, get all required blood & Imaging(USG, CT, MRI) tests done.
Your treatment (by medicines or surgery)will depend on the severity of your symptoms & pathology detected. You may need to get a biopsy done to rule out any malignancy.
Hope I have answered your query. Take care. Regards, Dr Nupur K
