What Does Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Left Side Indicate?
I have lower abdominal pain left side. Sometimes severe, sometimes mild, sometimes nothing. The doctor has said i have diverticulitis and has prescribed metronidazole 500 mg (3 tabs pd) and ciprofloxacin 500 mg (2 tabs pd). Is it cancerous or do i have good chance to have colon cancer? I am on metamucil and stool softner. But my bowel movement is not regular - every 2-3 days. The doctor has said I need COLONSCOPY in a month or so. What I should not eat or drink. PLEASE ADVISE! THANKS. Alex YYYY@YYYY
Diverticular disease refers to formation of outpockets or outpouches in the colon. The outpockets or outpouches can sometimes become infected, this requires antibiotics such as those that you are using.
It is not related to cancer nor does it transform to cancer.
I hope this helps
