What Does The Following Abdominal Ultrasound Result Indicate?
Hi, My daughter (6.5 years) just got an abdominal ultrasound and the following are the conclusion. 1. Mild hepatomegaly 2. Left kidney shows mild pelvicalyceal system dilatation (no calculus seen). Need to rule out reflux. 3. Mild cystitis 4. Multiple enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes. Please note that she had a surgery to correct level 4 reflux when she was 1.5 years old. Thanks you
Based on the history you have shared, it shows left kidney having signs of reflux uropathy and mild infection in the urinary bladder and may need urinalysis as well as renal function tests and a urologist review for antibiotics and any signs of present reflux and any need of micturation studies.
Mild liver enlargement may need viral serologies work up. If lymph nodes persist or having weight loss or fever etc or any other symptoms, a CT abdomen might be needed and a medical specialist review should be done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
