What Does The Following Blood Test Report Suggest?
A 50-year-old man with no apparent health problems who is moderately active and normal weight has the following blood values: high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol = 30 mg/dL; low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol = 160 mg/dL; and triglycerides = 300 mg/dL.
The raised lipid levels are one of the major risk factors for the heart disease.
So, you need to consult a physician for further evaluation. You may be prescribed Statins like Simvastatin along with Fibrates like Fenofibrate to reduce the levels of both the lipids.
Beside medications you need to have certain lifestyle changes such as:
1. Avoid alcohol and smoking. 2. Avoid fatty meals, take home cooked food, increase in intake of fruits and vegetables. 3. Do regular exercise
Hope this answers your query. A feedback is appreciated.
