What Does This MRI Report For Lumbo-Sacral Spine Indicate?

Not to sit, always in standing or bed position. MRI has done. Report is MRI OF LUMBO-SACRAL SPINE

Sequences taken : Sagittal-T1,T2 Axil – T1 , T2 Coronal – T2

•     MRI of lumbo-sacral spine reveals loss of normal lordosis.
•     Normal shape,size,contour,alignment & signal intensity of the vertebrae.
•     Intervertebral discs show altered signal intensity hypo in T2 at –L level.
•     Generalised disc bulge is seen at L3- L4 level generalized disc bulge with posterior central type of disc extrusion is seen at L4 – L5 level , causing compromisation of anterior thecal space.
•     Lateral recesses are narrowed on both sides at L3 – L4 , L4 – L5 levels.
•     Neural foramina are narrowed on both sides at their inferior aspect at L3 – L4 , L4 – L5 levels.
•     Visualised cord and conus region appear normal.
•     Neural arch elements appear normal.
•     Visualised pre/para vertebral soft tissue appear normal.
•     Ligamentum flavum hypertrophy is seen at L3- L4, L4 – L5 levels.
•     AP diameter of spinal canal at different disc levels in mm are :-L1-L2 = 19, L2-L3 = 18 , L3-L4 = 17, L4-L5 = 08, L5-S1 =09.



IMPRESSION:-Plain MRI of lumbo-sacral spine suggests:-
1.     Degenerative disc disease with generalized disc bulge at L3 – L4 level , generalized disc bulge with posterior central disc extrusion at L4 –L5 level.
2.     Lateral recess and neural foraminal narrowing on both sides at L3 – L4,L4 – L5 levels.
3.     Diskogenic canal stenosis at L4 – L5 level.
