I have been recently diagnoised with graves diesease. I am currently taking 10mg methimazone in the morning and adernol 50mg 2.5 times a day. I am still getting chest discomfort not so much increased pulse as pain ex sharp and electrical shock pains. Is this normal for my condition? I know my antibodies were over 1000 but dont know what that exactly means.
Hello, I read carefully your concerns and understood your query. Usually it needs 4 weeks to improve the symptoms after starting metimazole, of course if the dose is correct. The improvement is seen during the first 2 weeks. There are cases were the over active thyroid is transitory and it needs no treatment, in these cases the TPO antibodies are high. So it would be better to see the exams ( you can attach them) and give you a more specific answer regarding your diagnosis and treatment.
Best wishes, Dr.Mirjeta
