Will Cortisone Shot Further Breakdown The Torn Ligament?

I was jogging last month, I jumped over a puddle and felt sharp pain in my anterior hip. Contrast MRI shows: iliofemoral ligament sheared off of the ilium, small labrum tear, 58 degree alpha angle, 15mm femoral head cyst. My Dr recommends a cortisone shot, but the joint fluid leaks out through the capsule/iliofemoral ligament tear. I am concerned that the shot will further breakdown the torn ligament. I am hoping for a repair, but my Dr says this is the first step of a measured response.
