Suggest Treatment For Double Vision And Vertigo
Question: my uncle has been dealing with vertigo and double vision..he had cataract surgery several months ago and has been dealing with these symptoms since the surgery. He has gone to several doctors and to no avail.. they can't figure out what is going on with him? any suggestions? also he had cancer 4 years ago and had chemotherapy..
Brief Answer:
Possible lens issue
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I think I can help you.
I think he needs a revision surgery for cataract.
The lens placement may not be correct leading to diplopia and therefore vertigo.
The mismatch in 2 eyes may be causing the symptoms.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.

Thank you for answering the question..this makes so much sense. I gave the information to my uncle and he is so excited. He wants me to ask you another question, and he said the doctor calls his so called illness down- beating nystagmus..can you explain what this is.
Brief Answer:
It'd not a specific sign
Detailed Answer:
downbeat nystagmus is actually a neurological Condition where the ear is involved and there is a flickering movement of the eyes downwards.
it's not specific to the particular pathology

Thank you, now if the lenses are incorrect..do they have a way of checking what lens is incorrect? My uncle told me that when he had his first surgery, he was already having difficulties with double vision, but they tried using correction glasses to correct it..when he had the second surgery the symptoms worsen. So my question is...is there anyway they can tell which lens is incorrect or if both lenses are incorrect? Is there a certain procedure or test they can run?
Brief Answer:
Correction glasses may be used
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Correction glasses may be used.
Suitable power and directed lenses may be used. An ophthalmologist or optometrist will be better able to answer queries related to lens.
