2 days ago I got a number of cat scratch punctures on my left hand (accidental - cat slipped off my lap, scrambled for balance on way down). 2 of these punctured a large vein on back of hand - blood was running freely, then I held pressure on it (I'm on warfarin) - we put antibiotic ointment on after wound cleanser, then a pressure bandage - with 2 butterfly closures to hold the largest closed. Today at a doctor's office (specialist not related to this), my blood pressure was way high for me (160's over 90 - usually more likely to be low, below 120/60). Just checked it - still 160's/80's. My skin feels prickly (don't have a thermometer, but feels like hot/cold chills going on). The area around the large vein going up forearm is extremely painful from hand to elbow, and there's an area that is flushed reddish. (the cat is indoors only, no contact with other cats) My question is, does this merit an appointment with one of my doctors, and which one? The primary care? And is there any need for haste? Thank you, Sue Oops, cancel - I'm sorry, I can't afford the fee (minimal Social Security).
