About 4 years ago, I got a common cold. A month after that cold, I developed excruciating left ear pain. I lived off of ibuprofen for a week and the pain went away. My left ear will not clear, still to this day. It feels as if I have a bone stuck in my throat and my hearing in the left ear is significantly diminished. I can position my throat externally to make it feel like the bone moves, but it comes right back. I can also stick my finger down the back of the left side of my tounge with a significant amount of pain. However, this doesn't occur when I do this to the right side of my tounge. I have noticed my Adam's apple is off center and my collar bone in my left shoulder is sticking out quite far. I visited the ENT and he said I have nothing wrong after an exam and a hearing test. My PCP said I have significant spongy bone formation on the left ear drum and my sinuses were inflamed, however, no swollen lymph nodes, which I thought I felt. He prescribed flonase, but three months after using it, my symptoms are unchanged. Could this possibly be a thyroglossal cyst? Or an epiglottis mass? Any insights or other thoughts on a treatment?
