About 9 days ago, my sinuses changed to where I felt a thick mucas drip down my throat that was acidic, causing severe soreness in my throat and mild fever with body aches. As it wore on, my throat swelled and mild pain in my ears began, especially the left side. I had mild congestion but overall breathing through my nose has not been a problem. I went to see my doctor at urgent care on day two due to the severity of the sore throat. He diagnosed a double ear infection. He prescribed Omnicef. On day 6, I was back, as I felt my symptoms had not improved and in fact I had now developed a sever cough. I wanted to ensure it was not in my lungs. I saw a different doctor due to availability and while he confirmed my lungs sounded clear and he prescribed a stronger antibiotic, Levaquin, he suggested I hadn't given the Omnicef time to work. I've since continued with the Omnicef in the hopes that he was right and not to over stress my already weak system with too many drugs. He also prescribed Benzonatate for the cough which has helped some. It is now day 9. My ears are popping, phlem has decreased and gone from green to light yellow, cough is still present but less often. It is still severe though, and affecting my sleep. While that is concerning, making me wonder if I have adult whooping cough, my real concern is that I now feel bumps on the back of my tongue that feel like they are fluid filled but I am unable to see them due to them being at the point where my tongue touches the back of my throat. I have, in an effort to control my cough and sooth my still very sore throat, been using Halls cough drops at night, where I will sometimes, fall asleep for hours with it in my mouth and upon waking, will spit what didn't dissolve out. I don't know if the pustules I am feeling are swollen taste buds, sores caused by the acidic drip, sores caused simply due to an infection of this nature, or possibly as a result of the cough drops. I frequently have sinus infections with acidic drainage causing a sore throat but I have never had these bumps occur before. As I am still taking Tylenol regularly for the pain I'm feeling in my throat and I am now concerned about these bumps. Are they a sign of further infection? I am at the point now where I am considering switching to the Levaquin even though I have two more doses of Omnicef left, Or do I need to see the Dr. for a 3rd time in a week?
