Although I received a vaccination to prevent shingles about a year ago (I had chicken pox as a pre-teen) I started developing a mild random rash, accompanied by periodic itching, on the right side of the upper 1/2 of my torso. After several weeks of the condition I finally went to see my doctor. He was aware of my childhood chicken pox and my anti-shingles vaccination , and upon observing my condition and hearing me describe my symptoms he determined that I had shingles, but not a severe case, and prescribed some ointment for me to use. After several weeks treatment , the rash is a little more pronounced , but still of a random nature, and the itching spells come and go more frequently. Other than the periodic itching bouts, there is no actual pain. I understand there's a new vaccine that can be used as a post-shingle treatment.
