Dr. Mintz,

I am a NP student and i am working on a paper regarding interactions with prescription medications and CAM's. My case study asks if there are any interactions between lisinopril and creatine supplementation. The patient also has a hx of type 2 diabetes. I have found several resources that indicate that there is no contraindication with creatine supplementation and type 2 diabetes. But I did find a few resources the (medscape and epocrates drug interaction checker tools) that indicated that there may be the possibility of nephrotoxicity associated with the use of lisinopril and creatine. I keep running into this double blind study from 2010 in Sao Paulo that says that there is no correlation between either of the two. As a practitioner how would you counsel your patient on the use of both lisinopril and creatine supplementation?
