HI. I Am A Runner (20 Miles A Week Or

HI. I am a runner (20 miles a week or so) and have developed an occasional stabbing/burning pain at the base of my big toe. When it hurts, it hurts, but then 10 minutes later, the pain might be completely gone. I have to limp when I feel it--both while running and walking--and sometimes even just sitting, but it goes away just as quickly. Pushing on the area is sore sometimes, but other times I can push all over and nothing. I have recently had an issue with tight glutes, which transferred to interior calf pain, which I believe is related to the toe issue. When I stretch well, I can occasionally feel the stretch go through all of the "sore" spots down to my toe. I am training for a big race and don't want to back off training, but also don't want to do permanent damage. Any advice you could give as to what this might be, what type of doctor to see, xray or not, would be deeply appreciated! Thank you for your time.
