Have had neck muscle soreness the past 4 days, following playing in a one-day golf tournament. I am in very good shape and played a lot of competitive sports, including college football. The neck muscle soreness is similar to post-game neck soreness from hitting. But this is different in that the top of my head/skin is sore to the touch like having a bout with the flu, but I have no symptoms of coughing, but some throats congestion and it is difficult to swallow without the neck soreness kicking in, mainly below my ears (both sides). Very difficult sleeping as can't get head/neck comfortable without soreness. Lastly, and I keep checking, there is NO lymph node swelling. Earlier today, I did some static neck stretching and that helped. But after taking a nap, the basic soreness and swallowing issues returned. Should also say that I use a laptop several hours per day which is on my lap and so my head is in a somewhat downward position. I do not, and have never been, on Meds except several years ago for lower back pain and mouth surgery. I take basic supplements, low fat, very little red meat diet, lots of veggies, chicken, etc. I do drink red wine pretty much every night. Aleve has helped the soreness symptoms. I run 4-5 mikes 2x week along with weight-resistance training. Thanks for your assistance!
