Hello, I Have Been Suffering What Has Been Diagnosed As

Hello,

I have been suffering what has been diagnosed as GAD for Approx. 20 years now. (Diagnoses
by 2 GP's 1 Psych. . 2 PAC, & 1 NP specialist). I am male, 68 years old, single, have no debts, have sufficient income, & no other serious worries so anxiety seems counterintuitive. The physiological effects are as bad or worse than the psych. effects but both come and go in periods of 3-4 days to 3-4 weeks. I have lost interest in favorite activities and exercise almost always exacerbates the physiological discomfort. I have been taking Benzos. and tried several SSRI's and SNRI's, both of which seem to help some but the side effects of the reup. inhib. are almost as bad as the GAD. I did try a Buspar (15 mg, 2/d) in combination with Xanax (1 mg. 3/d) which worked well for about 5 weeks then the symptoms returned as bad as ever, but this has also happened with all regimens of treatment. I know long term usage of Benzos i9s frowned upon ( am a chemist & biochemist) But they work the best so far (only used Xanax or Klonopin). Any ideas, maybe a higher dosage of
buspar noticed no side effects from it. Cog. BT is not really available around here.
Thank You
