Hello! I Recently Became Ill. There Are White Spots On

Hello! I recently became ill. There are white spots on my tonsils, many lumps on the very back of my tongue, and my epiglottis is visible. I went to a doctor, and they did a strep test, which came back negative. They said it's viral and I should take Motrin and wait for it to go away. It hasn't yet, and it's seemingly getting worse. What could this be?
