Hello, My father is 89 and bed bound. We have a low air flow mattress topper on his bed to prevent bed sores. A few months ago he had a fever two nights in a row that made him sweat real bad when he came down with a bug that caused a cough. He also developed a heat rash on his back and left side/hip area. The illness is gone but not the heat rash. It has actually gotten worse. It went from tiny red blisters to solid patches. We've placed a pad under the sheet to keep the plastic of the low air flow mattress topper further away from his skin to prevent sweating. We have used calmoseptine ointment on the area as suggested by the home health care nurse but when we have to clean it off, it seems to be making it raw. We have tried fresh aloe vera, baby powder and gold bond powder. He wears a hospital gown and w're trying to keep it dry by letting the areas air out as much as possible. We were thinking of using corn starch to keep it dry instead of things that are scented and laced with other things but I looked on line and it was not a recommended treatment. I'm worried that maybe it has turned into something else like a bacterial or fungal infection? Any info, ideas or input will be much appreciated. Thank you, Tami
