Hello. Over three weeks ago I turned my ankle as I fell off a curb. I was on a cruise and was able to go on shore excursions (with difficulty and some pain and definite swelling) for the next 12 days. Upon returning home, I called my doctor's office and explained the situation. They sent me for x-rays to rule out a break, and there was none. Then, since I had flown a great distance, they sent me for a doppler to rule out blood clots. There were none. I continue to be in pain, and although the swelling has subsided quite a bit, my foot and half way to my knee is swollen. I take blood pressure meds and I am cautious about taking anything that will conflict with that. My question is, should there still be swelling and a dull, nagging pain (enough to disturb my sleep a few times a night) with occasional sharp pains as I walk? I try to keep the foot elevated as often as I can.
