Hi. I have had a sore throat for about 6 days, only on one side. Went to the doc Tuesday, had a throat culture done & she said it's not strep, & throat didn't look too bad, just reddened. Pain with swallowing got so bad I had a very hard time eating or drinking Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday & today. Also have had a lot of clear phlegm in the past 2 days. About an hour ago I coughed up a pinkish, tannish very awful tasting bit of phlegm about the size of a small grape...very yukky taste...like an infection (pus). Anyway I immediately felt better & can swallow more easily. Pain is still there, only the left side still, but not as bad. I can see a very small sore in the back of my throat on left side. Have a call into my doctor. Kinda scary. Could this be a virus, laryngitis, something else? What do you think the doctor will recommend?
