Hi! (This is going to be long sorry) So I've been on Cryselle (the pill) since September of last year and it's been great! No problems, never any spotting, never skipped a period. So actually I was supposed to get my period this week but I'm on vacation so I did some research and started a new pack so I wouldn't get my period this week. I started on a Sunday like usual and the last pill I took was at 1:00am Thursday (August 13th) morning (it was Wednesday's pill, I've been taking them around 1am all last month and I'm gradually working it down to around 11pm, so it definitely goes within the 24 time frame still) however I looked at when I would get my next period and it'd be over the 2nd weekend back at school and I can't have that (personal reasons haha). I was looking online and I know there ARE 24-day pill packs (compared to Cryselle that has 21 active pills) and I was wondering if you thought it'd be okay if I STOP taking the pills tonight and START UP AGAIN on Wednesday (that would be August 19th) because of I did that I would still be able to finish vacation without my period (it always takes 4-6 days after my last taken active pill for my period to start), I can have my period before school starts, and I could move my schedule (I always started a new pack on the Sunday after my period started and ALWAYS got my period on a Thursday, maybe a Friday or Wednesday here or there and I never liked that) I calculated if I start on a Wednesday instead I would always get my period on a Sunday always (or a Saturday or Monday here and there) and I feel like that would work better for me. So ultimately does this sound safe and will I actually get my period? I mean everywhere it's just like oh you can skip your period! But that's not what I want to hear, I want to know if you can postpone it like 4 days later, not a whole cycle later. Also I want to move my schedule to starting on a Wednesday. So if I stop taking the pill for a week (meaning not taking Thursday's-Tuesday's pill) and started again on Wednesday, August 19th, 1) can I move my period 4 days later, and 2) do you believe it would alter the effectiveness of the pill for the next month? (I have a new pack that I can start, so I wouldn't be using the pack that has like 17 pills in it, and I would be taking it at the SAME TIME every day) basically, I know once you first go on Cryselle you need to use a backup form of contraception for 7 days while the hormones kick in, so after the first 7 days of my new schedule, do you believe that there should be any reason to continue using a backup form of contraception the rest of the cycle (for the sole reason of not getting pregnant only, I am not worried about like using condoms for stds, for example) or would it protect as well as it would've had I not altered anything (Meaning that like 97% success rate on the pill if you take it at the same time everyday)? Thank you so much for answering my questions!
