Hi, my name's Josh, age 31, and I'm desperate for answers! Most of my life, I've been the picture of perfect health. I've always exercised, tried to eat a well balanced diet - avoiding sweets, pop, or anything with processed sugars. Then, in my early 20's, I made the biggest mistake of my life - I turned to energy drinks/pills to get me through my long work shifts. About 8 years ago, my bad habit caught up with me. I went into what I can only assume was a seizure; I shook violently, and I didn't necessarily feel pain in my head, but a strange pressure, like my brain was going to float out of my head and pop. That's the best way I can describe it; it was the most scary moment of my life. Long story short, ever since that day, I've been wrestling with some health problems. If I don't drink lots of water, I develop headaches and feel disoriented, and even when I try cutting back on my water intake, I have frequent urination; the worst part is my hypoglycemia. On a typical day, I have to eat a meal every 2 - 3 hours just to keep my strength up, which has caused me to gain a significant amount of weight. I hate the way I am and how these problems affect my everyday life. People mock me and criticise me for me extra weight, and women are no longer interested in me. With my last relationship, sex was difficult due to my bladder problem. And the doctors around here don't know what to do with me, other than shove medications down my throat, even though they have no clue what's causing my symptoms. As I said before, I'm desperate for answers and appreciate any feedback and advice you can give me. Should I see an endocrinologist? Is there another specialist you'd recommend? Any thoughts on what's causing my health problems? I look forward to hearing from you.
