How Advisable Is It To Have Hip Replacement Due To Immobile And Painful State?

My 78 year old, mom needs a hip replaced and has waited for many months just to see a surgeon. She is totally immobile, gaining weight, getting frustrated and depressed due to the constant pain from her hip.She is arthritic. Her knees are also in bad shape, genetics...She has spent her life on a farm, bore 5 children, adopted another...it is unbelievable how the Ontario system treats people like this. What can we do to get immediate medical care, (in Ontario) hopefully immediate surgery?Thank you, Mark
