Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My lower cervical spine/upper thoracic is very sore and I thought there might be something wrong with the C6-7 fusion I had. Xray says fusion okay but there is arthritis and spurs. The pain is a burning type pain like touching an inflamed pimple. My left shoulder also has pain at the superior and posterior insertion sites at the head of the humerus. . I am wondering if the two sites are related and may be something with muscle or tendons. This pain has been present for about a year but getting worse and is nearly constant in my back. going to the gym and using weights hasn t made it better or worse.
You need to get a CT spine done contrast to know what is the present state of pathology, and if their herniation of the disc or it is impeding on the nerve roots anywhere all will be found in the CT. Since your shoulder pain might also be related to this kind of nerve compression, which might happen in the neck I would strongly recommend you to come back to me with the report and if it's very severe then you can always get it correct surgically, and you can be all well soon after surgery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
