I Am A Kidney Transplant Patient Since March Of 2000.

I am a kidney transplant patient since March of 2000. I have been taking allopurinol 300mg for about eight years now to prevent gout attacks. My Primary Doctor replaced it a couple of weeks ago with ULORIC 40mg every other day, because he thinks the allopurinol is not good for my kidney. But few days after taking the uloric, I experince swelling of the face and feet. Sudden weight gain, about 10lbs. Swelling of the upper body. Severe waist and upper bodily pains. Sudden symptoms of rejecting my transplanted kidney including very less urine output. Couldn't bear the pains and fear of rejecting my transplanted kidney. I immediately switched back to the 300mg of the allopurinol. Within 24 hours later, all these symptoms subsided and disappeared in about 3 days. l lost all the 10lbs. weight I gained. When I informed my Doctor, he disagreed with me . He says that the only drug he will recommend for me is the Uloric to prevent any gout attack. Because of that he won't give me any refill of the allopurinol 300mg. What do I tell my Doctor? He seems to be upset that I stopped taking the uloric on my own. I need your help with the confussion here with my Doctor.
