I Had TURP Procedure In January 2018. My Urologist Has

I had TURP procedure in January 2018. My urologist has me on 2 prostate medications (Finasteride and Tamsulosin). I asked him after the TURP if I could wean myself off those medications eventually. He told me that I would have to be on those medications for the rest of my life. I'm not sure if I buy that 100%. Is there any peer reviewed research studies looking into this question. I have lost 15-20 pounds since my operation and hope to lose another 15-20 more. I exercise daily. My only other prescription medication is a very low dose of blood pressure and cholesterol medication that I hope to wean off of as my weight goes down as well. I know a retired urologist and when I asked him, he said that it may be possible that the TURP corrected everything and that it is a valid question to ask about getting off the medications. I do not want, however, to EVER go through the pain of urine retention again, so if I have to stay on the meds, then that's what I'll just have to do. What are your thoughts please?
