I Have A Mom Who Has A 21 Month Old

I have a mom who has a 21 month old and started having a cracked/damaged nipple during that pregnancy, no itching, burning, no deep shooting breast pain, tender with chafing skin at tip-never completely healed, appears pink, excoriated, no drainage, no fever, no S/S mastitis. She has been using Newman's Nipple Ointment for the last few months of this current pregnancy (delivered today)-prescribed by her OB. I had her discontinue use r/t there being a steroid in it which can cause skin breakdown with use longer than 2 weeks. I am getting a Dr.'s order for Bacitracin to apply QID to nipples/aereola and wash off gently with water before feeds. I feel that there is something else going on with this mom. Her right nipple is intact
