I have a single large nasal polyp which my otolaryngologist has been treating for the past three years with steroid sprays and, as currently, with nasal rinses containing steroids. However, the polyp is no longer responding to these treatments. The otolaryngologist is hesitant to attempt surgical removal because the polyp isn't of the classical shape—head and long, slender neck, but is instead more tongue-like, and, of course, it is heavily vascularized. Would cryosurgery perhaps be the answer in a case such as this?
