I Have Been Feeling A Dull Ache In The Left

I have been feeling a dull ache in the left side of my chest, on and off, for over a month. It isn't acute, almost throbs when I feel it, is not accompanied by a sensation of pressure, and comes and goes. Some nurse-friends of mine said they think it's a bruised rib, but that was over a month ago. Is this something I should seek medical attention for?
