I have been good friends with a person for around 20 years, so I know how he normally looks and behaves. Recently I have observed that this person has lost so much weight that his head looks disproportionately large compared to the rest of his body. A couple of years ago I noticed he started to appear frail from over work, or perhaps age. But this sudden, extreme weight loss has me concerned. Today his visited me for the first time in a number of months, and I thought he was not coming around due to a new relationship he is enjoying with a woman he moved in with recently. But, he looked so thin that his upper arms looked shrunken, and his colour was ashen. He said his doctor wants to run some colon cancer tests on him due to some symptoms he has been experiencing that could be related to that illness. But, he also told me the woman he now lives with has an addiction to speed which he is trying to help her overcome, without help from a detox center. He also mentioned that he has no alcohol tolerance anymore. He said that one or two drinks has him falling into walls and terribly dizzy. He never drank heavily that I had observed. He does not have a yellowish color to his skin, and his stomach is not enlarged at all. I am shocked by these changes in his health, and I worry that the woman he is living with has drugged him, or that he is taking speed, for some reason, or that he may actually have colon cancer. Would this type of cancer cause his extreme intolerance to alcohol? This all seems so serious to me.
