I Have Been On My Menstrual Cycle For 3 Months

I have been on my menstrual cycle for 3 months now I have been treated for stds and sti with negative results I had a normal pap smear and I am not pregnant or anemic. My doctor wants me to start taking birth control. Should I do it and what could be wrong with me?
