I have had shingles several times in the past 25 years....very small attachs....very few blisters. The real problem is the after pain.....the PHN, not on the skin nor at the blister sites. It only affects my left buttock, a place mid outside left thigh and perhaps outside left calf. it feels nerve related. Does not hurt when standing....but if I sat for a period of time....is painful when I first stand. If I tense my core.....and tighten th muscles, it recovers more quickly. I am in the process of looking for a primary care physician, with some rheumatology or neurology associates in the practice. THIS CONDITION WHICH USED TO COME AND GO, now has been chronic for 2 months.....no blister outbreak. I am healthy....take no meds other than Calcium, magnesium, zinc supplement as well as EFA and occasional Vit C. I tried to enroll in a PHN study thru CRAT ( where I do a yearly Flu vaccine study) , but my symptoms did not fit the study criteria.
