I have just moved to Fresno, CA, from Brooklyn NY to retire near family. I have had incidences of skin cancer, basil and precancerous sites over the past 20 years. (I am 68). I had two MOS surgeries on face and on upper chest in NYC. My new dermatologist in Fresno is recommending that I do the Levulan Kerastick plus Blu-U treatment on my face to address multiple sites of actinic keratoses. Reading the pamphlet has given me pause so I have just read patient comments on WEBMD about this treatment. It sounds awful and potentially very, very painful. I have very fair skin, blue eyes and Irish/Scottish plus other heritage. I am inclined to pursue ointment application that I could apply myself to worst areas noted by doctor, or have her apply them. What are your suggestions for further thinking about this? Thank you, Karen Gould, Ph.D.
