I was diagnosed with impetigo by the VA hospital via photographs of foot/hands/elbow. While photographs seem to match the way my skin looks, I just don't see how I could have caught this. I have had these blisters twice before and in each occurrence, including this recent bout, developed in the exact same way (first right foot, then right elbow, then right hand, then left foot, right elbow, right hand) starting in the exact same location (top right foot). The two previous times I was never diagnosed with impetigo (the navy originally said athlete's foot if you can believe that shit!). And because I was never diagnosed, it went untreated. This is important because I was living with my family - including 6 children who never EVER developed symptoms. Each time, however, I was under a lot of stress. Each of those times it went away "on its own" after I meditated, frequently used tanning beds (< 10 minutes per occasion), drank more water, bought new sneakers (my feet sweat tremendously and was still under the impression it was athlete's foot). Also, using clean bandages on feet but nowhere else seemed to expedite healing my skin elsewhere).
I just don't see where I could have picked up the impetigo bacteria. My girlfriend's cat - which recently had sores on the outside of its mouth - is my only guess. Is it possible this is a misdiagnosis, considering it was evaluated through photographs only? I also have headaches and frequent sinus infections (stuffy head). My neck is not sore, but it is stiff due to tension/stress. And I have tinnitus - where upon pressing down on the top of my skull increases in pitch and volume, but provides temporary relief afterward. Probably unrelated, but figured I'd just put that in there.
Also, this current bout of presumed impetigo is already on the mend and I have only just today been given a prescription for antibiotics and ointment (due to all the aforementioned self-made remedies). What do you think? Impetigo or something else or a compounded issue of the two?
Thanks.
