In The Past Few Days, My Throat Has Been Hurting,

In the past few days, my throat has been hurting, but not the "sore" throat that usually comes with a cold/cough. It's not swollen, and I have not been coughing at all. It really only bothers my when eat, drink, or yawn. This morning, I looked at the back of throat and saw an orange spot. Now, tonight the one spot got larger, and there's a smaller one right next to it. I've never heard of orange spots on the throat, seems so bizarre to me! Is it something that needs to be checked out? Thanks in advance.
