My 12-year Old Daughter Has Been In A "boot" For

My 12-year old daughter has been in a "boot" for 2 months now. The original diagnosis was that her seismoid bone was inflamed, but with no explanation as to why. (Perhaps she twisted her foot??)
2 months later, and she is no better. I bought her a knee-roller, so she could stay off of it completely in school, without having the burden of crutches. In the past couple of weeks, she has developed a "red spot" on the outer ball of her foot. It's not a blister: it's more like a pink bruise. The podiatrist is "puzzled". The area is sore to touch, and her pain hurts when the toe is bent forward: not backward. She says it's a "stabbing" pain.
