My 22 year old son developed a small "bump" on his small finger (palm side of hand) opposite the primary joint / knuckle. It causes him no pain, but has caused him concern as it has not gone away in 2-3 months. It suddenly appeared right after shoveling snow. The bump is the size of a small pea, skin is not discolored, has not increased or decreased in size over time, does not "seem" to be fluid-filled, and stays in-place when manipulated during my examination. Could it be a harmless ganglion cyst? I think it is harmless.
