My 90 Yr. Old, Very Active & 'young In Spirit

My 90 yr. old, very active & 'young in spirit & health' still living on her own, only about 15 mins. away from me & I speak to her daily, sometimes 2-3 times per day. She has been diagnosed with diverticulosis and has experienced sudden onset of severe colon pain with the feeling that she is severely constipated and can't completey empty her colon. She's lost over 4# in the last 5 mos., her diet is pretty good but very light -- she doesn't know what to eat any more. However she supplements her diet with Boost, often mixed with miralax. Her dr., gastro/colon specialist has been trying to work with her on RX daily dose of 145 mcg Linzess along with 1-2 doses of miralax daily but recently switched her to 250 mcg dosage/once day.
to see if this higher dosage w/o any miralax would suffice. After 4 days of the higher dose, she had another bout of severe lower abdominal pain, cramping & the feeling or urge to evacuate, but doesn't feel that complete relief. She's feeling so stressed about this situation, it's all consuming that she can't leave her house most days. Any suggestions? Could the Linzess have a side effect of cramping and pain? Perhaps she needs to try a different RX for this problem?
