My Girlfriend Was Diagnosed With Cervicitis. Her Gynaecologist Told Her

My Girlfriend was diagnosed with Cervicitis. Her gynaecologist told her to take the AF - Kit. But she also told her that since we were sexually active that I should take the course as well. Is it ok for men to take this medicine/ course? Also how can I find out if I have an infection and might have passed it on to my girlfriend? Thank you P.S. i was told by a doctor friend that men in my situation need to look of symptoms like itching, discharge, rash, warts, pimples, bumps sores aches around the genitalia - I have checked and i found nothing.
